2017 Sansui Serial Number Database

No worries. Just though I'd ask. The serial number label got lost at some point over the last 50 years since those speakers were built. If the second digit in the one serial number provided is indeed a 7 and not a 9, it indicates that speaker was built on production line 9 in September 1967 and was the 6,411 unit built on that line that month. It also would be the earliest one on file, nearly two years earlier than the others recorded, It would also help support the 1966 production date range you mentioned in the other thread.

That red tag is from a moving company. They use those tags on furniture and other large items that are not boxed to keep track of everything. When they unload they have to account for all the tags they used. Sometime in the life of those speakers, they were on a moving van.

You learn something everyday, LOL I had no idea that sticker came from a moving company, I figured it was original since the Serial Number Sticker on the other speaker is red. I was trying to figured out the years the speakers were made and came across 1966, but not and end of production date. I wanted to see if the speakers and receiver where made around the same time frame to see if someone could have bought the speakers and receiver as a set back in the day. I am amazed by these speakers and receiver for their age.

Second number is a 7.

Yup, definitely a 7. Your 2000A, serial number 810010507 was built on line 81 in January, 1970. So it's not likely it was purchased at the same time as the speakers unless those speakers were buried in inventory for two years.

I purchased them from different people I was just wondering if the two were available for sale at the same time.

It's possible you could buy a pair of those speakers and that receiver at the same time, just not this pair.

The above list includes only one SP-5000. In fact I have a pair here in Oregon, but one is missing it's label. Also, the list is incomplete in that I have four more SP-5000 out of state. (two pair) I'll have to post them another time.

Welcome to the Sansui Serial Number Database thread. The database now resides on Sansui Page in Digital Docs. You Can Access it here:

Sansui Serial Number Database
Please post new serial numbers in this thread. They will be uploaded to the database at least monthly, more often if needed.

When posting serial numbers please use this format:

Model,Serial Number,AK User Name
9090DB,827011234,LBPete
G-9000DB, 818021234,AK User Name
AU-555A,581080009,AK User Name

No spaces but please place a comma between data points. The commas are important. List multiple serial numbers as indicated. Please do not add anything else. I have to delete it when I create the upload file.

This format is changed slightly from Paul's format but it's easier for me.
