Finally @LBPete I got my serial numbers and here they are. I am interested to know what they mean, I think the 3rd number is the last number of the year they were manufactured but thats about all i know. Both from 1978, I was 12 years old then!!
I will post a few more of customers Sansui's as well, as they will help us gain more information...

Hello Pete,
This is my first post on AK. I live in France and I bought my first Sansui one year ago. it is an AU-9900. I love this amp so much. It run well but to avoid any future problem, I think it will be safe to change some electronic componants. So I read the forum to be able to do that myself.

I went through the whole thread. Looks like w1jim has the earliest G 22,000 tuner with 238050020.
kevzep has 238060270 and I'm thinking that's his tuner serial number. It has a earlier production date than mine, but a higher total production number?
Am I interpreting the numbers wrong?
When I am comparing the serial numbers for the G 22,000's, should I assume the numbers between the units were also G 22'000's?
I'll list my other serial numbers later today.

Verde, Sansui nine digit serial numbers follow this format: Digits 1 & 2 identify the production line. Digit 3 indicates the year or production. Digit 4 & 5 indicate the month of production. The last four digit are a sequential production number. Sansui routinely built different models simultaneously on the same production line. That complicates determining production quantities of a particular model. Basically, the higher the production number the later in the month that unit was produced but a high production number for a particular model doesn't necessarily indicate that many of that model were produced that month.

Here's a link to the monthly Sansui Serial Number Report. It contains all the production information on file. The models are listed alphabetically so to see the G22 information you have to scroll through a few pages.

Pete, I had read the production data in this thread previously. What I was asking is how can Kevzep's tuner number be from June, and mine from September but his has higher production number. Is the production number restarted every month?

The production numbers restart each month. They count how many units were produced on a particular production line in the indicated month and year regardless of which models were produced on that line that month.. They simply built more in June than September.

The AU-9500 is a great amp, definitely on my wish list. Please check the serial number, the forth and fifth digits indicate the month of production and can't both be zeros. The forth digit can only be a zero or a one.Aloha
