OK, I successfully got this unit to make music and not smoke thanks to the great help here.

    For info - http://audiokarma.org/forums/index....rd-mislabeled-need-help.813236/#post-11400319

I have moved on to the power supply and figured a new short thread was appropriate for a couple of questions.

I recapped the board and set the DC voltage per the manual last night. After each bit of work, I plug into my dimbulb tester as I learned from you guys. Power Supply Recap.JPG

In addition, board contains 4 diodes:

2 - S1B-01-02 - searching told me to buy UF4005. This seems correct.

1 - BZ-140 - I think this becomes a 1N4744A, so I purchased, but now i'm having trouble verifying this is correct, can anyone confirm?

    1 of WZ-071 - I bought a 1N5236B, and also can't seem to confirm this choice either.

Maybe i'm crazy, but thougt I worked all this out from searching the site. I clearly need more schooling.....

    Thanks for the help.

BZ-140 is a 14V 1W zener and WZ-071 is a 7.1V 500mW zener. The 1N4744A is a 15V zener and the 1N5236B is a 7.5V zener; both are close enough that they should work, but unless the originals are faulty there is no need to replace with these substitutes.

Lee, thanks for the input, they don't appear faulty so I will leave alone.

I also have a KSC2383 for the transistor adjacent to the pot on this board. Should I leave it alone also?

    Thanks.

If you are referring to H803 (2SC1213), the KSC2383 is a good substitute; but if the original is fine, it can be left in (AFAIK, its not a known to be failure prone).

Leestereo - in the interest of correctness, per the (at least 2270) schematic H803 is a 2SD315 ....the 2SC1213A are H809/H810, for
which KSC2382 has been recommended here as a sub.

The P800 power supply board of the 2230 is very different than that of the 2270 (the latter includes the relay protection circuit which is not implemented in the the capacitor coupled 2230). For H803 in the 2230, the KSC2383 remains a suitable replacement (also AFAIK, there no KSC2382).

For me, great info here, I plan to install the 2 UF 4005's and leave the rest alone for the time being. Unfortunately, stalled as I head out of town for work for the week......
