So I ungrounded the unit.
I checked 4 biggest caps on power supply. All kept specs. I replaced them anyway. Marantz used a lot of glue and bent the legs of elements, therefore I messed up the pcb a bit, the soldering points started to peel off, anyway the new caps will last forever (Nichicon PM and PX, Panasonic FM). Not sure if I should even check caps on other boards, what are your thoughts?
I replaced the giant Elna 18000uF caps with 10000uF 80v Chemicons.
What period do you think are the giant Elnas from? My bet is 1980s. There was a fad in UK then of installing huge filter caps, sometimes even putting them outside the box if they wouldn't fit
They are now 19500uF with excellent ESR and voltage leakage.
