Hi
I know there were some posts, I searched here and googled but read very inconsistent info about it.
My educated guess is that 2270 that I own (recapped) sounds more woolly and mellow as it has a lot of middle bass. I am looking for something a bit crispier clearer sounding within Marantz 1970's line, around 60-80W and not to rare to find or too expensive, so 2275 would do maybe?
But someone here said 2270 sounds more natural and 2275 adds colour . Some said 2275 is more natural and flat as it has tone defeat. But what does natural mean? Some said it's almost the same sound, some that 2275 sounds less vintage, 2270 more tube like
I have Yamaha CR-1000 and it sounds crispier and clearer with less middle bass but more low bass. "Clearer" is what my friends say too totally unprompted about the Yamaha when I present them both receivers, they notice more low bass of Yamaha too. And they are not audiophiles or vintage heads so should be believed. One owner of Arcam A29 said 2270 sounds close to his Arcam and he bought the Yamaha from me (I still have 2 of this Yamaha model and 3x 2270
But it's about 2270 vs 2275 and NOT vs Yamaha CR-1000
To not trust the ears only I will look and compare the tone boards of both, or maybe somebody did it already? I know there are bigger caps on phono board of 2275 but I don't use phono anyway.
Thanks for your comments
