Local buy and sell site here has a 2285B in wooden case for sale. What is the opinion of most with regards to B versus non B?

I've heard that the non "B" sound a little better so when I saw on on CL, I scooped it up. I'm going to at least rebuild the power supply before I do some serious listening though. As it is, it sounds very good. They are supposed to be one of the better sounding Marantzs'. I haven't heard a "B" though so you will have to get that answer from someone else.

I've been running the B version for years and love it.Never heard a non B but I doubt there's an audible diff.
They are both nice units with each having its own pluses.
I have done multiple restorations on 2285b's and only a couple of 2285's(because of their rarity of only being made for one year).
Either one is a joy to work on.
They both make far more power than their published specs indicate.
As always,if there is one nearby then go for it!

i have the 2285B and its a great receiver, they do have dual filter caps that you cant get anymore so you need to come up with a work around to get 4 caps in if you replace them, lots of info for doing it here on AK
