I think we're going to need a little more than that. A word of caution, before you do anything else investigate a dim bulb tester. It acts as an indicator if your unit is shorted, i.e. the bulb will light up brightly if there is a short. Otherwise, if the bulb is dim the unit is probably okay.

continuity on the transformer mains? They are known to die.

You can do a lot of tests with the unit unplugged the main caps discharged and using a voltmeter to see if it should make some power.

But I'm in the camp with highvoltage_, we just don't know enough about your problem. power also drives the lamps, do they work?

first try a low wattage lamp plugged into the outlets on the rear panel and see if it lights up ..

How about something as simple as the main fuse on the back?
