RIP 1961-2018
Just curious as to if anyone ever tried to repair one of these at home? It seems like it's always the PS that goes out and lets the voltage drop below 48. To me, that screams bad caps! I assume they are using some sort of quadrupedaler to produce the 48 Just curious if anyone has torn into one of these monsters. Thanks. Bad news, it looks like a drunk monkey applied the glue for the caps, maybe it comes off easier than the Sansui stuff, ugh what a nightmare.

Hey, just found this, it was exactly what I was thinking. This thing takes a beating as it's mounted on the drivers side front fender well. I guess they are finding broken joints, but I'd replace the cap rather than just re-solder. I think I'd go to at least a Nichicon 105 or Ruby. Looks like an easy way to save 400-500 bucks imho. I'd probably go up one size in voltage if space permits. A lot of guys shoot for 58 volts thinking it's going to hop their truck up, but from what I've read, a steady 48 is as good as it gets.
