60 cycle hum heard in cd transfers from vinyl only.

cant hear it at any other time. Burn an lp to cd hear it loud and clear between tracks, and with headphones during quieter parts of songs also. If I monitor directly off of the cd recorder while recording, I can hear it. Switch back to monitoring the source ( the turntable) it goes away . It is ruining all my needle drops. Anyone have any idea how to isolate the source?
 
TT's phono cables usually include a ground wire that needs to be tied to the phono circuit
otherwise you have a ground loop and hum. follow the cable from TT to phono preamp.
 
I am about to start transferring some CDs onto a CDRW700 so I know what you have there. (Great machine, as you know.) I had to remove the tube phono pre from the preamp case because it was picking up too much 60 Hz. from the power transformer. Now, are you sure its 60Hz and not 120Hz?
