A very "cool" tube which still can be found cheap because it was never widely used (I remember there was one in some Browning tuners). Built like a miniature CRT (with a small mica screen) it's less bright than the more common "ribbon-type" indicator tubes. Originally intended to be used as tuning indicator in FM receivers other applications could be possible, like in the Vu-meter circuit below (not my design, not tested):

I was also thinking audio signal indicator when I saw the sheet.

It really begs to be used as some sort of balance indicator. Maybe an electrostatic field imbalance detector --- to detect the presence of supernatural life forms? It would be a pain in the butt to make it portable, but the simplicity of the detection and display circuit makes up for a lot of that pain.

Doesn't get good until about 56, but this is the idea. Thanks for the circuit logic, I just happened to find one of these while sorting a caddy.
