75 ohm unbalanced input question

Hi everyone -
on one of my receivers - Yamaha cr-440 - I have an input next to my fm antenna posts that kind of looks like a female coaxial cable input and it's labled 75 ohm unbalanced.

I tried hooking a coaxial antenna adapter but it doesn't fit -- what kind of connector/adapter do I ask for at Radio Shack?

secondly, how much improvement does this give your radio reception?

Oops! Forgot to mention how it improves your reception! As compared to what, Reed? Without the adapter, you can't listen to FM at all. I have to use one on my T-80 to hear anything at all. "They" say that adapters cut a few dB out of the signal strength, but it's better than hearing nothing at all. I have no problem using mine, as I use an amplified VHF/UHF/FM combo antenna out on the roof.
