8 track hum

I have a realistic tr-169 ..when I plug it in it hums...the machine itself..not through the speakers and no tape playing.....i have tried different outlets and no change...any ideas what this could be.

Most likely the power transformer. Windings are loose, or the insulation is dried out. Nothing else makes sense if it happens with no tape inserted; pull the cover, put your hand on the xformer, see if it changes or you can feel it buzzing.
