Hi, everyone
I got fisher 500C and 800C and
My friend wants to trade his TA-600 for my 800C….
Just wondering what all you guy think?:scratch2:

You should be aware that the TA-600 is a very nice stereo amp, but the tuner isn't actually stereo as we think of it today. It was setup for AM/FM stereo (2 seperate tuners inside), meaning one channel was broadcast on AM & the other channel on FM. You'd need an outboard multiplex adaptor to listen in FM stereo. Other than that, it depends on wether you really want the 7189 sound, & how good a friend he is. ;)

If you want it because you want one in your collection, go for it. If you want to try your CD player through a 7189 amp, give it a try.

If you want a receiver to listen to FM, no. An MPX-200 in decent shape will run at least an additional $150.

Personally, if it was my only 800-C I'd be trading away, not a chance.

Thanks, Spaceman and Fisherdude for the response......
I thought about trading because i got fisher 500c, 800b and kx200 and they all use 7591 power tube.

7189 amp i got 3 unit one heathkit and two scott.

That is why I am having a hard time to decide...

I really like my TA-600 but wouldn't put it in the same class as the 7591 Fisher amps.
The FM mono is a bit hard to get used to. The quality of the am and fm sections are both outstanding though.

The TA chassis is tight and they are a pita to work on.
