8080/9090DB Weird happenings

I have several 8080/9090DBs and they all do the same thing. I live about 1/2 mile from the broadcast antenna of a 50,000 watt am station and if I touch the jumpers I can hear the AM station just as clear as tuning on the tuner. It doesn't matter where the function switch is set.

I can understand me being an antenna, but where is the detector?

I do remember way back when (1959) I build an intercom for a science project, and thru the crystal mike in an aquarium and pick up a station, That I can understand.

Any Ideas????

I've seen a similar beahaviour in other amplifier.
I'm not 100% sure but it seems as though the jumpers have a thin oxide coating.
Some metal oxides perform like primitive detectors, as a matter of fact copper-copper oxide diodes were popular well before the advent of silicon diodes.

Thought you might have had something, as several of these had missing jumpers and I replaced them with copper, however, I get the same with symtoms with the steel jumpers orginally used.

 :dunno:
