After searching for a long time I finally found one of these for my collection..
It appears to be original black flags and all..
Well done Willy very nice, the reconditioning process will remind you of an AU-X1 but it's about ½ the work.
Congrats Willy6 - truly a superb audio piece to add to your collection -
This one will have to wait for a winter project because I'm working a lot of overtime this time of the year..
The AU-919 is one of Sansui's finest. Please post the serial number for the database. Click on the link in my signature block.
Believe me,....It's worth the wait!!
Will do pete
I decided to dismantle the 919 today..
Rack handles and all, very nice!
It looks like two of the big oval caps are leaking and there is a bunch of corrosion on them and the bottom of the power supply board..
We'll be happy to enrol you in the Sansui Oval Can Capacitor re-stuffers club, as soon as you like.
Some great 'walk throughs' on this subject by AK member Kale in particular.
What is the corrosion seen on the bottom of one of the boards?
Leakage from two of the big oval capacitors mounted to the bottom of the power supply board.
I thought one of them had popped it's cork in the bottomside pic. That is one hell of a nice amp. I have the D9 and the nudies of the inside appear bare compared to the inside of yours.
