I was skeptiical when I first bought the Jaycar version. I have had mine for 6 years and still going strong. A couple of mods and its one of the most musical budget amps I have heard. It does have a bit of a tube sound - warm, rich, natural sound with a bit of depth. Listen for hours without fatigue. I am very pleased got mine for $100, they were originally $299. It does have weaknesses like bass is not very tight, slight hum, not for metal style of music more for jazz, country pop etc but at this price it is very impressive, better than a lot of amps I have heard under $1000. I think its the musicality that you over look its weaknesses.
