Yeah, that would make me struggle too. Cloth or metal grills?I am still kicking my ass for passing a pair of 810s for $25 at a flea market about 15 years ago. Good luck on your quest.
That look s easy to make nice and acceptable for presentation in a room of your home. Sure one could put a doily on top of it and another plant, just asking for another watering to finish off the veneer but with a nice refinish with the hundreds of chemicals, stains and finishes available today, those could look nice enough for a nik-nac that doesn't need watering!Just for giggles... the cosmetically challenged L520...
Way too many speakers have that common plant stand water ring on them. Hard to prevent it but two of my speakers, hard to get those battle scars, Magenplanars, too tall and thin and Dahlquist, a rounded top to the grille. Looking forward to seeing the results, good luck.I like a little bit of visible battle damage for character though.
At some point we've all wanted to try a 3 way. These would definitely be for me, no flipping.
I picked up a cosmetically challenged pair of L520s recently that I really like and want to try a three way.

That took long enough!!!At some point we've all wanted to try a 3 way.

No, he is right. Try the Barkeepers friend first. It's a very light acid and it applies like toothpaste. It will often remove rings without removing finish. If it doesn't work you've lost nothing, but if it does you've saved 1/16" or more of veneer. If i can get the tweeter out tonight I'll cover the woofer and be careful.
I'd rather try a light sanding than use some type of cleanser/chemical.

Thanks for that link. Barkeepers Friend is an Oxalic Acid mixture, but I had no idea about wiping with vinegar. I'm going to try that next time.Read the thread: Getting Black Water Rings Off The Tops Of Your Speakers?. That black stuff penetrates the wood. You could sand off all the veneer before it is gone. Bar Keepers Friend has a low concentration of oxalic acid and works slower than what is in 4-2-7's thread.
