The Beginner's Photography Guide, 2nd Edition Paperback - by Chris Gatcum (Author)
DK books.

I found this at the local library, and I think it is the best organized and easiest to read book for beginners with a new digital camera and not much knowledge of photography, that I have ever seen. It is aimed directly at the newbie digital camera owner.

It breaks down each main topic (like "Exposure") into short sub topics (like "Introducing Exposure") followed by "Explaining Shooting Modes" and then "Explaining Aperture Mode," and "Applying Aperture Mode", and so on. Each section is a digestible few pages that leaves you knowing what the subject is about and how to use it.

You can review the table of contents and some of the text on the Amazon site:

See if you don't think it's a good recommendation for your friends who ask you how they can learn to use their camera.
