A Vinyl Score Out of Thin Air

So last Friday I got a random email from someone that got my contact info and heard I "haul away old records for free". I was busy so we emailed back over a couple days. She practically begged for me to come get them and get them out of their way. I thought OK I'll go help clean up their mess and haul then to Salvation Army or whatever. She says "Be ready there are a lot". I couldn't pick up until this morning (Monday). Then last night she said she put them outside and 10 minutes later we had a storm roll through that lasted hours. I thought this is going to be a mess. I was ready to throw them in the back of my pick up and trash them. So this morning I head over. I was pretty skeptical about the location too as it wasn't in the best part of town but I was going in the morning so not really unsafe.

I get there and the albums are on a covered porch, on a shelf and wrapped in a tarp. About 150 of them. Mostly rock. Almost all NM with just a handful of lesser grades. Unbelievable.

Here are most of them...

Some pretty classic stuff there! Nice score. Glad you could help someone declutter and your Karma quotient just went up a lot.

So did she have a turntable and old stereo too to get rid of?

Hmmm. Didn't think to ask. We never actually spoke or saw each other in person so conversation didn't flow. It was just short emails. She just wanted to leave them out and have them gone. I just might email back. Wouldn't want anybody having too much stereo clutter around, right?

I'm thinking the Karma was good because I'm willing to haul away crap that nobody wants if that is what it is.

Something for everybody there. I always like the "Guitars The Destroyed The World" compilation. It turned me on to Mahavishnu. "The Dance Of Maya" is explosive. BOC "Buc's Boogie" is neat too.
Lots of other cool records, congrats.

Certainly a better than average haul. Good for you. You really should send her an email, both thanking her and inquiring if she has any gear she wants to get rid of.

lucky duck!

...and I laugh at all the CL ads I see that read: "I will haul away your old records, Stereo speakers and photograph equipment"
I guess people do answer those.

I think I will put an ad on CL that says: " I will Haul away all your old unusable gold and silver coins for a fee (some I do for free)" That one answer might be my retirement.

Exactly, a follow up thank you and a simple question is a perfect coda to this. I've always just asked some questions like "any old records, stereos, vacuum tubes, tools, etc.?" Even a curious question like "any old Porsche stuff" has turned up some interesting items.

Karma is strong with this one.
