About the Yamaha T-80

Not that it's a bad tuner, but it's often overlooked because it's bested by so
many other Yamahas- the TX-930/950, T-1, T-7, T-2, TX-1000, of course the
T-85, and possibly others I haven't heard. It has the bad luck of being good
among so many other good or better company tuners. Good news is that
might make it sell for less.

Interesting. I have both the T-80 and TX-930. The 930 is in the living room and works great. But the T-80 is in my dedicated rig with a room sized Rhombic antenna and it runs circles around the 930 for both sound quality and reception.

Granted, I did a few of the mods listed here.....

But it was great before the mods and just got better. Mostly I added film bypass caps to the PS, upgraded opamp, replaced the NP electrolytic output coupling capacitors with films, and added an IEC inlet for upgraded power cord (currently plain jain computer cord). I much prefer the T-80 for what it's worth. I feel the build quality is much better and it has room to mod inside. Just my 2¢.

@PabloTincho I responded to your PM. Didn't see this thread until after.

My mileage varied :) And I could have had a subpar unit. I was testing it
at the same time as a T-85, too, so that could have colored my impressions.
After all the Yamahas, I ended up with two Onkyos- T-4711 and T-9090 II.
