Acoustic Research Holographic Imaging M2 Speakers

My VIntage Audio guy has a very nice pair for 120.00 US dollars but I can get them for 100 most likely. Is it worth buying them. I want to just because they look so different. Any info??

I'd see if you can take them for a spin in your system. This is the series that Mark Levinson used in some of his systems (and he wasn't using the high end ones either). I have a pair of M1s that can be very surprising. They are very system dependent (which is why you ought to make sure you can return them if they don'e work for you), but can sound much larger than you would expect. They are ugly (my opinion) but have the potential to be very attractive.

I think there is a mention of them in one of the threads about inexpensive speakers that really wowed people.

Not in the same league as the AR9 and its siblings but iirc built on some of the same research.
