They sit pretty high up there although I've never heard them. They sit one level below the TOTL 1590's from the mid 80's. Are you looking at a pair and if so do you know if they are 1290 2's? Here's a couple of pics from the pair for sale on eBay right now.westend said:Where do these sit in the ADS line-up?
I think so but $400 would be better. If they come with the original boxes and manuals that's a plus too. Good luck and let us know if you buy them.westend said:Would buying the 1290's, in good condition, be a no-brainer for less than $500?

Is it a good deal to buy a pair of A/D/S 1290 speakers in good condition for less than $500? I know this is an old post but I am impressed by your posts. So I asked a question in my mind. Please if anyone can answer this question I will be very happy. Appealing to the admin. Please approve my post, ThanksThanks for the replies, Duff and OneP.They are supposed to be identical to those. I don't know if they are series 2. Yes, I'm thinking on a pair. My problem is that I have too much gear, at present, and have to sell off some for more room. okay, thank you, sirIf you find anything new currently made in the range $350-500 comparable to the 1290 then buy those.
Do some search of the web and AK and you will quickly learn how good ADS is - you can’t go wrong with any model including the original Braun
Good luck! g
