Advent pos/neg

I'm having some confusion about the positive and negative terminals on the large Advent (10" woofers in 12" frame). I know, I know just listen and see which produces the correct bass response. The speakers are never marked as to the positive or negative pole. Can someone give me a clear description of which terminal is which? Thanks

The one marked "8 ohms" would be positive. The one marked "0" will be negative, if they're the original Advent.

take a 1,5 volt battery hook it up to the speaker terminal. Notice wich pole of the battery is connected to wich speaker post

Now

When you make contact, notice if the woofer comes outward or goes inward

OUTWARD - the battery plus pole is connected to the plus of the speaker

INWARD - the battery plus pole is connected to the NEGATIVE post of the speaker

do that momentarily ( not to long )

That's what I remember from my hi school electricity course

Hope it helps :)

If I remember correctly the postive terminal will be marked 8 ohm, the negative will say 0...that is how my Advent/1 are marked 8 for positive, 0 for negative.

I've done response testing on AR speakers regarding hooking up pos & neg, etc. and found it doesn't make any difference (at least for solid state amps) AS LONG as both speakers are hooked up the same. Remember guys, the signal from the amp is an AC signal, not DC.
