AKAI GX-646 RtoR

I am going to look at one for sale tomorrow - any comments re: its reliability, sound, etc. ?

Akai made great reel to reel decks at that point in time, but remember that that point in time was 20-30 years ago. The 646 is a great deck, and was one of Akai's best consumer decks, plus it can handle 10" reels.

Bought the AKAI RtoR

I went ahead and bought the AKAI - it doesn't appear to have had a lot of use - I tested by recording, playing and erasing and all went fine. The FF and reverse went w/o a hitch. Got 12 10 inch reels w/ it of which 4 had been used and the other 8 appear new. The owner also located the manual. I feel pretty good about the purchase.
