AKAI GX215 D vu meter lamp

..the Vu meter light has burned out on my Akai GX 215 D reel to reel....the specs on this lamp is 24v 35(36) mA...has anyone replaced one ?...and did you use the original bullet lamp or a Led for replacement?...I have searched everywhere for one and any help you can give would be very much appreciated.
...the original lamp is a tiny bullet shape ..brass base with two wires attached...looks like they are soldered to the light board..?

If this lamp is physically similar to the one you are trying to replace, the difference in operating current (50 mA versus 36 mA) will probably not be an issue. A photo of the lamp would certainly be helpful.

...the lamp is about 4 mm diameter and about 5 mm long...a lot like the dial indicator lamp on a receiver..the dial indicator lamp being longer....modern Leds for the dial indicator are not very long like the old vintage.
...the link you provided shows a lamp that just might work....bare wire leads..do you think they would be a problem? ...thank-you.

According to the eBay listing the diameter of the lamps is 5mm and they are 12mm long, so you will need to determine if they will fit in place of the 4mm diameter lamp(s) you are trying to replace. Replacing both lamps would be prudent since they have similar in service hours. As far as the wire leads are concerned, if you are concerned about them contacting other circuit components you can always insulate them with heatshrink tubing or sections of insulation removed from a piece of insulated wire.
