Alright! A Realistic STA-2100D Recap list! Grrrrrrrrrrrr!

The receiver was in protection when I started on it. One channel was was toast and the 2SD400 comp transistor was shorted.
I replaced the trimmers on the amp boards and recap'ed it strait up. Deox'ed it. No fancy cleaning.
The set is fairly easy to access. The amp assembly's are removed in one piece.
Tip:
Which reminds me of the temp sensors RTV'ed to the heatsinks. Mark all the sensor wires and disconnect them at the crimps leaving the sensors attached to the heatsinks.
Take your time and double check your work a few times before you apply any power, DBT or otherwise.
Do one board at a time checking the set for function after each board.
One very nice set.

I don't, sorry.
Double check this list against the set.
Some films will not be available so use the WIMA's. Stay in the 50 volt values or they get big. You want the 5mm lead spacing.
The Nichions films are nice and there might be more availability in the values you need.

Realistic STA-2100 recap and transistor list:

Replaced the outputs: 2SB665/2SD675 with MJ21193G/94G's
Replaced the drivers: 2SD669/2SB649 with MJE15032/MJE15033
Replaced the VD1221 diodes with a pair of series'd 1N4148 diodes
Replaced the 2SA872's with KSA992's.
Replaced the 2SA659/2SC1175 with KSA1013/ KSC2383's
Replaced the 13v zener D509A

The compensating transistor 2SD400 should be replaced found at BDent.

Can you give me some part numbers for the tantalum cap replacements? I'm not sure at all what to replace them with. I ordered everything in your list except for them. Thanks, zebulon!

Use films for 1uf and under, voltage rating 50vDC but check the circuit to make sure.
Anything over 1uf, use electrolytic's. Nichon ULK's

Well, I finished the recap and I turned it on. The led was red for a split second, then the unit shut down. None of the fuses are blown, no puffs of smoke, nothing to make me aware of something obvious. Nothing happens whether the power switch is on or off. I did notice, though, that there is always power to the UNSWITCHED outlet in the rear, regardless of the the power switch position. Any ideas?

Did it pass DBT? And it means it's wired correctly...if it's unswitched, it's not on the switch...meaning always on.

Sorry, I meant to type that the switched outlet is always on, not the two unswitched (they are both on, as they should be). I'm not sure what DBT stands for.
