I bought my Altec Design 20s in 1979, my sophomore year of high school. They cost about $400 bucks if I remember correctly. They are comprised of a 10"woofer, a 10" Passive Radiator and 2-2" Soft Dome type Tweeters. These speakers sounded incredible. I played drums at the time, so they had to play loud and clear!! And play loud and clear they did, just ask my neighbors!!They were driven by a Marantz 4270 given to me by my father. He then purchased a Marantz 2600, hopefully I'll get my hands on that too. My Altecs also suffered from foam rot. The L-Pad for the Tweeter became scratchy and eventually had to be replaced after a few years.
I'm sure that after you refoam the woofers and replace the L-Pads you will have many hours of enjoyment.
