If you are of a certain age, you remember The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test (Ken Kesey and the pranksters) , Radical Chic & Mau-Mauing the Flak Catchers and The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby (The custom car movement). To say nothing of The Right Stuff !! OMG!
He was SO MUCH MORE than his later fictional books like Bonfire of the Vanities!

Wolfe lived in New York City with his wife Sheila, who designs covers for Harper's Magazine. They had two children: a daughter, Alexandra, and a son, Tommy. Tom Wolfe died in Manhattan on May 14, 2018 at the age of 88

RIP Tom Wolfe - glad you were here - we WILL miss you!

Favorite recollection: when he describes California surf culture and how they use the word "mysterioso" a lot.

RIP, Mr. Wolfe. I remember reading The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test in my junior year high school English class. I enjoyed The Right Stuff too, but I always took issue with the way Gus Grissom was treated in the telling of his Mercury capsule sinking during the recovery after his launch. Anyway, a true master of his craft.

Rest in peace Mr. Wolfe. I thought Bonfire of the Vanities was hilarious, and it gave this naive(at the time) Idaho boy a glimpse into the different neighborhoods and cultures of New York City.
