Big time Congrats!!! I think a lot of us share that regret but eventually find a way through it. I just don't think life works that way. As in "if I would've done something different or sooner back then, today would be better". You may already be at the best possible place of all possible outcomes of your entire life, with even better times ahead.

I agree I do not think that things would be better just that things would have been better longer :)

Ha! I get it. I ponder that too. Of course you could've been hit by a bus if you had gone to that first AA meeting on any other day or even left the house 15 seconds earlier. Just sayin' you just don't know. What you do know now is the value of your time ahead.

I look at it this way, life is a journey, what is behind is just that behind you, it does not hurt to take a look back at it but, it is much more important to live in the present and look forward to the future.

    Hi, Dan, "Weedaholic"
21 years without nicotine, 6 months without THC. I feel I need to go to meetings to stay away from the THC. Believe it or not the TV show "Mom" has been an incentive to go to a meeting for support.

Addiction is cunning, baffiling & powerful. But it sure yields some fine stereo equipment

"We will not regret the past nor wish to shut the door on it."

    Are these extravagant promises?

Congrats to those celebrating their sobriety and the life changing that occurs to achieve that success. It truly is a miracle!
I crawled into AA with an honest desire to stop drinking and have received that and so much more. ODAAT

32 years back on March first. To be honest AA wasn't for me but I know they do good work.

10+ years in Alanon for me. Before that, 30 years of trying to force solutions, and it made me crazy. Happy to say my qualifier has 10+ years sober and works a better program than I do. Life is good.
