any ideas? Mystery speakers

I got a call today from someone that claims to have a basement full of old speakers.. He mentioned that he had two pairs of what he thought were Pioneer floor standing speakers.. He said they have "manual crossovers". I am not sure what that means.. Is there a model of Pioneer from the 60s that has an external crossover network?

He probably meant manual tuning pots.
