I'll be visiting there soon for the first time. Staying on the strip at Bellagio.

Any one have tips, tricks, what to do, what not to do?

Stay inside! Looks like over 100 degrees for the next few months.

I don't gamble but do visit Vegas often with family - like every other year. There are many national parks within few hours of driving. Grand Canyon, Mojave, Death Valley, Red Rock, Valley of Fire, and etc. Also, the chocolate factory is worth visiting if you are with your family. Hoover dam and lake Meade is worth visiting as well.

I wanted to say... Stay away from the back streets off of Fremont Street!
Realized I haven't been there in over 20 years. Things have probably changed a lot since then.

I prefer to spend most of my time in Vegas on Fremont St. Cheaper than the strip and you don’t have to hunt someone down to bring you a drink while you’re gambling. Also, *much* less walking required to casino hop.
Also, if you’re playing blackjack- leave the table when they switch dealers. Maybe it’s just me, but as soon as they do that I start losing.

What are your interests?

It seems there was a thread about this on AK a while back.

Seeing Hoover Dam is pretty impressive; visiting the Grand Canyon, depending on your schedule is good.

Some great restaurants in LV.

As Russell Brand said; if you are not single, and sober, there's no reason to be in Vegas

I have been there several times and can recommend the things i really liked ...

Hoover Dam (we did the tour)
Bellagio fountain show
Mirage valcano out front
Bellagio indoor garden
Fremont Street Experience light show
Peppermill Fireside Lounge
Check out view atop the Stratosphere
Pinball Hall of Fame
High Roller ferris wheel
Top Golf
Mandalay Bay Stripsteak restaurant
New York New York Nine Fine Irishmen

Check out a show or 2, check out the hotels/casinos ..

You are staying at a great location, the Bellagio is beautiful, check out the shops in Ceasars Palace, The Venetian etc.
Want a great pizza? Try Grimaldi's Brick Oven pizza inside Palazzo .. it is very good!

If I had a room at Beelagio, I would not need to go anywhere else at this time of year. When I came to Vegas, it was in July. The temperature was 107 degrees in the shade. We drove out there in my Suburban. I had emergency milk jugs of water tied around my roof rack. It was so hot that someone stole the water jugs off the top of my Suburban.

I would like to visit the auto museums.Other than that I have zero interest in Vegas atall.I would never dissuade anybody from going there its just not for me.

keep to a daily loss limit and quit when you reach it.

Enjoy the shows and great food.

Wait till October when it cools off. Too hot there now.

Bring ONE credit card that will max out at the amount of money you don't want to lose but probably will anyway and make sure your return fare is paid in advance.

If you're a drinker... tips to the wait staff will take you a long way. But don't gamble while doing this!

Wear shoes with reasonably thick (insulated) soles otherwise the pavement (sidewalk) will burn the bottoms of your feet, even through the shoes! - yes it's that hot.

(ask me how I know )

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.

Always remember, Some Things Don't.

Only bet on a sure thing.
Also, if you sit down at a poker table and don't see a sucker, get up and and leave immediately because, well....

ask a local where the best buffets are.

I can't do this but two of my former associates tell me to check in and tell them you're a high roller.
you get better rooms cheaper and, if you're proven, then you get comped. this takes more chutzpah
(NYC speak for balls) than what I can drum up

I prefer getting upgrades on long distance air travel. did I tell you about the time I was bumped off
a 10 hour flight into ...

Wow surprised no one mentioned Cirque du Soleil at the Bellagio.

It's been a while since I'v been there but it was new at the time. Plan an expensive night with the wife, eat at one of their 5 star restaurants $$$ before the Cirque du Soleil show and it will be something the two of you never forget. You will also be looking out while eating at the fountain show going on 24/7.

BTW it's cheap eating in Vagas, not at these restaurants though. It's the type of dinner you get courses to that are artistically presented hence 5 Stars restaurants. You can eat very cheap the rest of the time there.

Oh suit and tie, you don't go there in shorts and a T, you also will not hear Wheel of Fortune and machines blasting out stupid shit. The Bellagio is a classy place not like the rest of the family amusement park BS.

This vid is the hotels advertisement, and you'll see this place is quiet different and caters to the wealthy. Again your going to want some nice close staying in this place.

This is a live vid and you can hear the difference in this hotel compared to others.

They do have some cheaper eating there at Bellagio

Now in comparison, the Excalibur

The Luxor
