Anyone Build Lego type construction sets?

I picked up this Construx Viking Long Boat at Toys R Us for 8 bucks just before they closed.I remember building Legos in the early to mid 70s but this is a whole different animal!995 pieces and I was a but overwhelmed at first!I found that a medium sized Fishing tackle box ideal for sorting and organizing parts.Progress thus far.,,,

Last one I put together but mine is in African Corps color.

I also have, unassembled, the VW Bus and Beetle.

Been a long time. I was thinking about them not to long ago, but sheesh, looks like it would be more expensive than the audio hobby.
I was never a follow the instructions kind of guy though. I was always building spaceships no matter the kit.
