I'm trying to remove the platter form my Grundig console and it has a ring securing it that I believe to be pressed in. Has anyone come across this and have a solution to remove it ?I want to check out my Idler Wheel. Totally stuck any help would be appreciated thanks guys

Where's our German Audio subforum? We listen to and list a lotta stuff @ the Today's Krautrock thread in the Music Forums. Guess we're listening to that stuff on (mostly) other than Kraut audio gear? :smoke:

In any event I hope @Pio1980 or other member(s) familiar w/ Grundig TTs can help y'all out, @jkon.

BTW, posting your question @ pics @ the General Audio Discussion forum might yield some helpful advice re: your Grundig.

Oh crap, does this mean I'm being banished?:(

No nothing, it almost seems pressed into place ;(

I've had a couple of Elac turntables from the 1960s where the platter was VERY difficult to remove. If you are absolutely sure there is no locking C-clamp in place, it may require considerably more force than you've tried so far.

It might help to have somebody hold the chassis/frame while you pull the platter straight up with two hands. But be careful of course.

If you Google something like "elac turntable cannot remove main platter", you should find numerous threads from several sites on this issue.

Post a full pic of the turntable, and any information on labeling.
It's kind of a neat setup it doesn't have that arm, the record actually sits on little fingers that balance it and when you engage the switch the fingers retract into the spindle
