Apple called it, they are right about the 3.5mm phone plug

Okay, slightly OT, but I've wondered. Is or was there ever any difference between a 1/8" plug and a 3.5mm one? The math says 1/8" is 3.175mm. So were one or both of these figures rounded off, or were they simply close enough to be interchangeable? Are they really different sizes?

No difference the basic dimensions are the same the 3.5mm sounds better in printed copy than the actual measurements. The 1/4 inch plug has a similar thing but in reverse 1/4" is also known as the 6.35mm plug but you don't often hear this plug referred to by it's metric name.

When I got my new S-7 I got not knowing each cord cost a good $35 and this adapter thing that is no longer than 3 inches has the flat tongue to insert into the phone and on the other end is a 3.5 mini plug. Why I got a 7 I haven't the slightest idea but I'm convinced it can launch missiles if told to.... lew

I have a great set of wired Shure SE-215 earphones but hardly ever use them anymore. When I do I often forget I am attached to my 7+ and walk away dragging it off what ever. Thank God for the Otterbox Defender case it is in.
