AR PS2052 Woofer trouble

I've moved this from "Speakers" forum, hoping for some advice:

I picked up a pair of Acoustic Research bookshelf speakers, AR PS2052. When I hooked them up, I noticed that I was not getting sound out of one of them. I switched the wiring to the amp, and the problem was in the same speaker - likewise when I hooked them up to another amp. When I put my ear close to the speaker, I could hear sound from the tweeter, but not from the woofer. I ended up removing the woofer, and hooking up a woofer from a similar speaker, and it worked. So looks like I have a problem with the woofer, not the crossover. In looking at the woofer, I see that the terminals look fine, and the braided copper wires from the terminal to the cone look fine. So is there anything I can do, other than replacing the woofer? Thanks for any advice!

greetings; great pics btw.

very hard to say but perhaps blown /worn coil. Nice pics btw. seems like front pics no issue so assuming coil. I do believe there is a sponsor near you in NC. who has kits or to repair. but I'm not a speaker guy who can tell you how to take that back cover off or if you indeed need to.

somebody chime in as I'm sure the speaker outfit is in NC. speaker dr. has retired but sure there is a few your way locale.

I had a car speaker one time that failed similarly. I sent it to Simply Speakers and they was able to repair it. Depending on what is wrong with your woofer, it may be repairable. I would give them a call or send them an email with a link to your pictures here.
