Are you guys running your Wharfedale W70s at 4 ohms or 8 ohms?

Running a pair of w70s (original alnicos, bic) from a fisher 500b at 8 ohms currently. Can these be run at 4 ohms or will this damage my speakers or receiver? If they can be run at 4 ohms, any sonic benefits?

Any help appreciated.

I don't know about 4 ohms. You might even go the other direction, 16 ohms? On the back of my W70s was scrawled 7-16 ohms. Not factory writing, but the earlier wharfedale's were 16 ohm, and quite a few of their early drivers are 16 ohm. I have a pair of Ampex el 34 monoblocks that are 16 ohm output, and I need to get working on my w70's to try those out on.

Thanks Mark, Upon further inspection, my speakers are labeled 8 ohms. Guess I've gotten too addicted to the internet, lol.

Good luck with your W70s!

Sam
