Subscribed, thanks 4.2.7 for kicking butt. And thanks to all the great members here!
Hey StimpyWan- We've corresponded about AR speakers and such in the speaker forum. I didn't realize you had such difficult problems. I hope your back gets better soon. My Mom had major back surgery this spring. She had been suffering for about two years. She's better now, but didn't get everything she had hoped for with the fusing of some lumbars. I saw how it affected her and I think she was depressed at times. Easy for me to say- but hang in there. And please- if there are exercises for your back, do them. When you're feeling better and maybe get to travel north-- please get in touch and we'll reserve a chair in front of some legendary AR speakers for you (and the Mrs.).
Grumpy- Thanks for all you and others do to maintain AK. I've had a number of really fine transactions via BT and met some really fine people I now call friends. Donation made via PP for the server upgrade. AK has been a huge help in my pursuit of hi-fidelity audio. Hope donation helps at least a little. -GoRNR
Thanks! I appreciate the concern. Getting a little better each day. Slow progress, but it's progress. No chance for surgery; the surgeon didn't give good odds that it would help. Plus, I didn't like the idea of shaving the back off the vertebrates. Yuck! But at least the last steroid epidural helped somewhat with a pinched sciatic nerve. So now, I can put my socks on by myself! Between the shots, physical therapy, and resting with a mix of heat and ice, I'll get there.
If I ever get north near you, I'd love to check in for a visit. The AR9s, the MGC-1s, and the ADS L-1230s are all speakers that I'd love to hear. And with your Klipschhorns, maybe you could convince me to like horns too?
Plus, I agree, AK is an great place to hang out. Friendly and weird people, that I can identify with, as they like the same things that I do. They understand my idiosyncrasies, as all AK'ers suffer from the same ones too. We all fit in together!
Hi Willy, Sorry that's not our correct address. Can you cancel it and try again to firstname.lastname@example.org ? Thank you
So sorry to hear about your back. I had the surgery many years ago and wished I never did. Now I can hardly walk without a cane and im only 50.. I will pray you see some relief my friend.
Thank you all for your support.
First things first, Wow, I have a Grumpy reply! I'm honored. I didn't expect that, but I appreciate the concern. And I'm sorry to hear that you went through the same issues as well. Me, a fractured vertebrae, 4 herniated discs, from S1 up, and two different pinched sciatic nerves. First the left leg, and now the right leg. Plus, spinal stenosis! Not fun.
Also, my pain specialists agrees with your feelings that you're better off without having the surgery, if possible. He's read studies where patients that healed naturally, fared better that patients that had surgery. So, if you can stand the pain, while taking longer to heal, you're better off.
Finally, another Thank You for Audio Karma. It's helped me through the last 10 months. Finding a comfortable spot, with my heating pad, has been my daily routine. That, and reading AK, to keep my mind off the pain, has been my salvation. It's truly been awesome. And it has allowed me to occasionally help others with advise, even though I can't physically contribute at present. Congratulations from me, for a job well done! AK is the Best!
Pledge sent. I don't need the mug or tote bag, Grumpy.
LOL you had me rolling with that...
I will be able to get to the storage unit soon, I haven't forgotten. It's in another state, just across a river.
Contribution coming this week.
Thanks for all you do.
Done! Thanks for keeping the lights on
I sent a Paypal donation around the17-18th, but I don't feel I was clear where the money was to be used. I used Paypal.
I don't read every thread, but feel the site is definitely worth supporting. It really is like a family.
Just renewed my subscription. Now that the dust is starting to settle in my personal life, time to renew old habits and friendships.
Thanks for all the hard work; I can't imagine all the time and effort it took.
Just posted some glass as an auction to benefit the new server
