AXPONA Chicago April 21-23, 2017 - Who's going?

@baco99 Did you decide to go?

Hoping it all works out for you. I think I've arranged for a colleague to assist while I'm there so I won't have to be "too" tied to my phone the whole time.
I'm sort of lucky that I often work at home, so other than family (or severe server outages), I'm not really pestered that much. If I go, I will be photographing and posting a bit on Instagram like I did last year. It looks like I may be able to do Friday and Saturday, but Sunday I might have to skip and head home in the morning. I have mostly seen everything by Sunday anyway--last year I felt like I was just retracing my steps with my buddies, since they were not at the show Saturday due to Record Store Day. I figure I can buy records every day of the year if I want to; I can't sit and listen to dozens of nice systems like this any other time of the year (unless I went to RMAF this year, which I am tempted to do).

I'm going for sure, last year was great and I'm in the market for main speakers.
I wasn't speaker shopping last year, but came across a couple that I liked. The ProAc Response D48R at $14k was one of my favorites at the show--I'm more of a planar speaker type, but I could easily live with these if I had to. If it weren't for that price tag of course. ;)

I think @botrytis has mentioned going this year. But I haven't seen him around AK in a few months.

@Wildcat - I would love to go, but that's school vacation week here in Mass, so we'll just be coming back from our family trip on the 22nd.

Is there a calendar where all these events are posted?

@baco99 There is only the date listed at the top of the AXPONA site, here: http://www.axpona.com/ I think they update it for the following year within a few days of the end of the current year's show.

This year, that's a bad weekend for me also. It's just a few "situations" stacking up all at once. But the show is the same weekend every year, presumably, so we can all at least try to plan ahead for 2018. ;) My situation will be completely different next year, so I won't have any obligations to worry about.

We're about 6 weeks out. Anybody else getting on board? You know you want to! All the cool kids are doing it. You want to be cool, don't you?

Most of the worlds finest listening systems all in one location set up just for us to hear.

Also a lot of equipment and components that can be purchased.
You can also meet people like Andrew Jones while he is demonstrating the Elac line etc.

The Sonus Fabers will not disappoint!

My dream amp is a Mark Levinson and there will be some of those for sure.

Cool kids? Have you actually hung out with any audiophiles? :)

I may go this year, schedule permitting. It's less than 20 miles away for me...

I just got a voice mail from AXPONA, asking if I was interested in attending this year. :D

Not a bad price either. Just bought a pair of klipsch at Best Buy and spent almost $700. I bet a single phantom will out perform the pair. I'm going in today for a listen and possibly returning the klipsch.

Me and a buddy are going Saturday and Sunday. Plan on getting in early saturday, checking out the show, and indulging in plenty of cocktails in the evening.

Take a little cruise over to Rivers Casino.
Just watch, it's kind of a high roller place.

Last time I was at a casino, it was in Hammond Il. Govt Mule was playing there. It has to have been 10 years ago..While waiting for a buddy to cash out, I watched a lady go through $1500 on a slot machine. Within just a couple minutes... I don't even want to know how much she was actually playing with.

Rivers is a tough place to win on slots.
Tables seem to get hot at times.
Lot of money in that area.
It's a nice casino to visit and good food.

First round is on me! :D
You'll regret that. :D

On second thought, maybe that will motivate me to find a room for the weekend and drive over. ;) Still not a good weekend for me, and I'd have to leave early Sunday morning.

Do you know if @VinylRob ever decided to go this year? I think he was talking RMAF instead. If I weren't already taking two longer trips this summer, I'd hit RMAF myself. Seems to be a lot more action than at AXPONA, in terms of actual manufacturers showing up.
