Not sure what your lawyer told you but this kind of situation could happen anywhere are you going to quit buying food at your local grocery store too? The fact is you did nothing wrong and no one could prove otherwise letting this situation ruin your life is just silly he wins if you let it.I loved this hobby, and being a part of this thread. But on the advice of my lawyer, I'm probably giving it up.
Unless I’m mixing up my forums, This thread has been temporarily and almost permanently shut down due to devolving into bitching about thrift store pricing which I believe is frowned on here. Could we not put this long running thread in jeapoardy and maybe limit the thrift store policy bashing? I really like this thread.
You don't have to give it up. I've run into a few weirdos at the thrifts, but also have met a few good guys who I see during my rounds. My advice is to frequent the same stores regularly. Say hi and make small talk with the employees. If you go enough they will know who you are and that you aren't a problem.I loved this hobby, and being a part of this thread. With all due respect and fully recognizing that you are the victim here, I would strongly suggest that if you and your lawyer feel the only solution to this one chance encounter is to give up this hobby, you probably need less time with a lawyer and more time with a therapist. Please take that as the encouragement it is intended to be, it's not a rip at all and I hope it doesn't look that way in print.I loved this hobby, and being a part of this thread. If any clown tried that crap with me they wouldn't get too far. The employees of the stores know me and wouldn't automatically side with some stranger.

I'm with marshan on this one except my advice is get a new lawyer. Any lawyer who would advise you to stop shopping in thrift stores as a result of this (unless you are a registered sex offender) is a crap lawyer.
You did nothing wrong. Being falsely accused sucks! I'm sure that once you get some time between you and the incident, you'll feel better, and will be able to get back to your hobby. I think Mitkraft was wise to file a police report, and I think you should do the same. Of course the cops won't do anything, but it establishes a paper trail to the incident, puts your side of the story on record, and should make you feel better.I'm personally too mentally tired to enjoy thrifting again.
Haven't had much time lately for thrift stores as I have been working my ass off. Did however stop by one last Sunday and found these two quality built-to-last, made in the USA, working jig saws for ten bucks. Should come in handy for my upcoming open baffle experiment. I'm at the point where if I see almost anything that is built with craftsmanship and built to last, even a stapler, I'll buy it. I may not need it now, but I'll need it in the future, and I don't want to be forced into buying some chintzy, disposable piece of garbage. View attachment 1031075
FYI,
I am not 100% certain, but if those have brushes in them, fyi, the brushes are replaceable and with a bit of new oil will run until you give them to your kids do use until they are old and grey.
Back, once again, to our regular programming and here we have a nice Pioneer DVD-S969AVi (which I think is a Euro version of the DVD-59AVi) - $10 from the hospice shop, no remote. I've been looking for an SACD-compatible player, I just need some SACDs now.....

Grabbed a Denon drm555 tape deck today. Very good condition.
A couple days ago I picked up a mid century Silvertone HIFI speaker..
The speaker actually does work.. Any ideas on what it's worth?
