Re my post #20 in this thread, for whatever reason my linked Photobucket image is still working and I have not paid their new $399 annual extortion fee. ( That is more than I pay AT&T for 60 mbps up and down broadband internet service!)

I tried to go in and edit the image but no edit button. I guess this board format cuts off editing after so much time passes. Am glad to see PB's prominently displayed message so everyone knows why so many images have disappeared after being posted for years using PB's own right-click copy and paste the URL to the picture. Now they've just "noticed" I'm doing that? Anyway sorry for all the broken pictures on AK I have a lot.

That parrot, btw, died last December 3 days before Christmas, after over 30 years having him. Raised him starting as a 5 week-old baby I got from a breeder in '86. He fell while playing in his cage all excited waiting for breakfast (you know how pets get when the food is coming parrots no different) , and knocked himself unconscious and couldn't breathe best as we could tell. And I didn't know how to do parrot resuscitation.

Anyway here's a pic I took of one of the two mockingbirds that hatched and fledged in a crepe myrtle bush in the backyard, in April-May. Man these guys are fast! 3 weeks hatched and gone!

Was sitting in my usual kitchen nook spot on the 'puter when out of the corner of my eye a large bird landed in the backyard.

Turned to look and saw a roadrunner! Way cool - been a long time since I've seen one actually in my backyard.

I've seen them while on surveys with the San Diego Tracking Team, and know they are around by picking up their tracks.

He just hopped around the backyard, then on top of the fence to preen for a bit then he was off.

This guy/gal was on the sidewalk outside my office window, trying to get one of the little snakes that show up every once in a while. A neighbor scared him off, so he sat in this cottonwood for about 45 minutes. I've seen various hawks over time - sharpshinned, red tail, cooper's - but I'm a little unsure on this one. I'm thinking peregrine falcon? Pretty sizeable - at least 18".

    Cheers,
    Larry B.
