Rust never sleeps...like cancer.
Personally, I'd do the "bandaid" approach. Then get it shot (in the fixed areas) by a el cheap place/friend. Get what you want outta it, sell it, then look for another reliable drive, without rust.
Or keep, saving up until those rockers take you in the safety check and part it out...all at once or part by part.
