Brand new old cartridge.

I recently bought a Pioneer PL-41 that a friend was putting in the garbage. He felt guilty that I wanted to pay him, so he gave me a Ortofon MC20. I tried it and it had very low output on the right channel, I was disappointed. I let the record play, and noticed that the right channel would come and go. Flipped the record over and by the end of side 2, the cartridge sounded great...both channels equal.
You might want to let it play for awhile, loosen it up a bit....
Just a thought!

india42, thanks for the idea, figured it was worth a try so played a couple album sides, no luck.

Not a big deal as I prefer cd's and don't use the turntable much. The TT is a sentimental favorite though as it was a piece from my first real "decent" set up.
I do have to say though, last night listening to a record I'm very familiar with, using the original 1983 cartridge that came with the turntable, there was a certain "presence", "space", "air" whatever one would call it that I don't hear on the same cd.
