My Sister collects brass and she has a great collection,She cleans with Brasso but she was wondering if there was a protective coating she could apply to retard the tarnishing?

I did not know of anything, but I was wondering if you guys had an answer?

Thanks
Alan

Yup...gold plating:D

Seriously though, I believe you'd have to seal it, perhaps a spray urethane. I'd look into something like a "spray fixative" (used for sealing charcoal drawings) from an art store, as it is archival and the coating won't discolor with age.
Only problem is if you want to remove the coating someday, could damage the item.
First thing i'd try is maybe a carwax on a small piece and see how it goes.

You can clear coat it after polishing and cleaning the polish off. Another less permenant solution is to use a good car wax on it. That might be one step as most will act as a polish as well as a sealant against air and oxidation.
