Bruno Sammartino, Pro Wrestling’s Champ for a Decade, Dies at 82

I liked watching Sammaratino a lot. Actually surprised he made it to his 80s, he was so damned big -- thick, you know -- the sorta bloke you'd imagine puttin' down 16oz of beef daily (nb: Bruno's billed height and weight @ his prime: 5'10" @ 265lbs). But it seems despite carrying such great mass Bruno had him a good, long run @ life.

Wrestle on into the hereafter if that's the Holy One's plan for you, brother. And if that is the case, I wish you many victories.

We had the good fortune to meet, along w/ other grapplers on the card that Saturday afternoon at Chicago's International Amphitheatre, Bruno. My folks even took a polaraoid shot of Bruno and my kid brother, who must have been 10-11 at most, pretend grappling. Wonder what became of that snapshot? Laying among my brothers' effects in a box? Lost to the ages? <sigh>

I remember watching in the early 70s.
It was on Saturday at midnight.
I kind of remember him not being televised as much . Maybe trying to rake in large live gates.
He projected as a nice guy.
