C1364 npn substitute??

Replace both TR805 & TR807. Check their emitter resistors carefully. A better sub for both devices would be the Fairchild KSC2690 & the KSA1220 (a 45V part is inadequate, and 50V is borderline). I'd be surprised if the output devices survived. Power up with a dim bulb tester.

As far as your speakers making sound whilst disconnected...call these guys.

Sorry to jump in here, but I am replacing this 2SC1364 in the protection board on my AU-20000. Is this KSC2690 a good substitute in that case as well? I assume that if it is good in one application, it should be good here too, right?

Thanks

The KSC2690 is overkill in the prot. circuit of the 20000. The cheap KSC945C would do fine here. Mouser #512-KSC945CLTA.

Hmmm, I already have a buttload of KSC2690s. Will it do damage to use them? I know they are packaged differently, Maybe I'll just order the KSC945Cs with some caps or something.

Save the C2690's for something else. Their gain is a bit low for the prot. circuit, though they'd probably work.

Hi,
Just wanted to say that I had an issue with a bad 2SC1364 on a Sansui AU 101. I followed EchoWars recommendation and replaced both TR805 & TR807 with some KSC2690 and KSA1220 from Mouser and the amp has been working really well since then.
Thanks a lot EchoWars!
