C200 preamp review in Stereophile

I have not yet received my October issue, but the Stereophile.com website indicates it contains a full review of the C200 preamplifier.

With all of the wonderful things said about every piece of gear that gets reviewed, S'phile makes it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff. Just once I would like to see a scathingly negative review. Thankfully the lab reports shed some real light onto the subject. Without that, S'phile would be just another audio mag without any credibility whatsoever.

C200

I have to agree with Paul Bolin on this one. I've heard the C200 going into both the MC602 and MC2102 amps. I think it is as he states. It's MC phono stage design is problematic in its peculiar choice of an unusually low input impedence of only 10 ohms, necessitating a 'fix' at the Mac dealer or other qualified technician. On the other hand, as a linestage it is excellent and should be seriously considered by anyone looking for a top solid-state pre-amp.
