Hi gang, i have an older Cambridge audio 640cd player. I can notice a "hum" going on around the transformer area. I can hear it from about 1.5 feet away. Its there as soon as i plug in the power cord, even when the unit is on. I don't hear it through the speakers. playing music sounds okay. when i disconnect power cord it is gone.
Is this normal for these players? should i just leave it as is?
    thanks

I had an old EQ with a similar problem. Hum is evidence that the transformer is worn and should be replaced.

fab: Did you already open it and have a look? Maybe the tranny (or respectively the board with the tranny) just isn't fixed correctly...

    Greetings from Munich!
