Carolina Chocolate Drops are a Bluegrass, "Jass" (Bluegrass Jazz) Jug music, Prehistoric Country Rock Band. Wonderful, wonderful sound. Below is the official music video "Country Girl" from their Album Leaving Eden (2012). This is a band that does not stay on the traditional Bluegrass reservation.

They were popular regionally and won a Grammy in 2011. They have split but Rhianna Giddens and Dom Flemons are recording individually. They are founding members and still affiliated (Board of Directors) of the Musical Maker Relief Foundation that is headquartered in Hillsborough, NC where they also have a recording studio. They did some recordings at a nearby historic building (Post Office/General Store/Furniture) owned by an acquaintance.
