I have an Akai GX-F90 (bought in '79) that I believe (deck won't rotate cassette) needs new belts. I tried to disassemble the deck to gain access to the belts, but the drive mechanism is buried pretty deep and I didn't want to remove any parts that would prevent me from re-assemblying correctly.
I have a couple of questions:
1.) Is it worth having it repaired? Or should I consider purchasing a new cassette deck? The only reason I want to have a cassette is to be able to record some of my albums for longer play sessions down in the man cave.
2.) If it is worth repairing, are there any local shops in the Detroit area that can tackle a job like this; at a reasonable rate?
3.) Amazon has some TEAC and Pyle cassette decks on sale. Any comments on TEAC and Pyle quality?
Thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions.
