There's various timelines out there, but the ones I can find all stop at year 2000. I'm looking at (champagne) players from early to mid 2000s. Here's what I've found so far (based in UK):

EBAY GOING RATE - £40 upwards (rare Phillips DAC)

MODEL - cd6000

If anyone can fill the gaps, great!

2nd hand values are curious. The 5400 is currently going for the same price (or more!) as the 7300, yet I believe the 5400 was the cheaper version of the 7300 when released. All it takes is one person to advertise it at a higher value, and the next seller takes that lead, inflating the price.

I have the 5000 (with the rare Philips DAC that gets praised in certain quarters) and the 5001 (silver, no champagne version) with a brighter, actually usable display. I can't detect any difference in sound quality.

My plan is to hunt down a 7300 and sell the two I already have. Good plan? Any thoughts or comments appreciated.
